Please note, these instructions apply only to Destini Omni-Channel WTB Locators and Product Widgets. Do not take these steps if you have a Legacy PRO or LITE locator, or if you are using the 1.5 version of OCL. Do not take these steps for Destini Shoppable Landing Pages.
1) Create a new GTM container & GA4 Measurement ID
If you do not yet have a GTM container just for Destini locator products, you will need to create one. You will be associating this container with your Destini locator products. The locator application will load this container in automatically, and it will run parallel to any GTM container you may already have on your website.
We reccommend a separate GA4 Measurement ID, so that locator events and any visitor metrics for the locator are kept separate from your website’s traffic data. You will need to create a new GA4 stream, or possibly a new property with a new stream under that property.
2) Download the JSON import file
3) Add new tags / triggers -
- Go to the Admin tab, select the import option from the right column.
- Select the JSON file you saved to your computer
- In most situations, you should only have “default workspace” as an option.
- Be sure to select “merge” so to keep any other non-Destini tags/triggers/variables you may have. If you are importing into a brand new container, there will be nothing to overwrite or merge.
Double-check what is getting updated, hit CONFIRM to add the Destini tags & triggers
4) Edit the Google Analytics tag and add your GA4 measurement ID
Replace all instances of G-0000000000 with your GA4 Measurement ID from step 1) and then SAVE.
5) SUBMIT your changes and PUBLISH
6) Register your GTM container in the Destini CMS.
Login to the Destini CMS, go to the Where to Buy builder, and select SETTINGS in the top-right of the screen. The setting panel has a field for you GTM container – enter the entire account ID (including the GTM- part).
If you are logged in to the Destini CMS already, here is a shortcut link to the WTB settings screen: https://omni-wtb-dashboard.destinilocators.com/settings
7) Contact your Destini Customer Success Manager and/or Destini Support (support@destini.co) and let us know that you have completed these steps, so we can confirm event tracking is activated
